CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

EarthWorks Expo is a big, complex event, and it wouldn't be possible without the help of our great volunteers. Each year, we rely on up to 100 or more volunteers to help us with such diverse tasks as venue setup, ticketing, workshop coordination, exhibitor assistance, welcoming attendees, resource recovery and more. This year, we'll also need up to 20 volunteers to help us promote EarthWorks Expo at public events taking place during Earth Day week, April 19-25, one month before the Expo.

We ask every volunteer to work one 5-hour shift during or prior to the Expo. In exchange, our volunteers gain free entry to both days of the Expo, including workshops and keynotes, plus free food during their shift. Plus, volunteering is fun! And you're sure to meet lots of other great volunteers, exhibitors, speakers and attendees along the way.

Young people aged 10 and up are welcome to assist with age- appropriate tasks, with parental permission and supervision.

Can you volunteer? We welcome your help! Get our volunteer form HERE, or contact Assistant Director Lisa Olivas, lisa@earthworks-expo.com.

QUOTABLE:

A mounting perfect economic storm born of a convergence of peak oil, climate change, and an imbalanced U.S. economy dependent on debts it can never repay is poised to bring a dramatic restructuring of every aspect of modern life. We have the power to choose, however, whether the consequences play out as a terminal crisis or an epic opportunity.

2010 Expo to Give Away Electric Scooter, E-Bike in Prize Drawing

Thanks to the generous support of Pete's Electric Bikes in Boulder, CO, some lucky EarthWorks Expo attendee will win a fabulous electric motor scooter, the Grand Prize in our prize drawing giveaway. Another lucky attendee will win our 2nd prize hybrid pedal-electric bike, also from Pete's E-Bikes. Additional prizes will also be awarded.

All Expo attendees are eligible to enter the prize drawing. Simply fill out and return the entry card you'll receive at the ticket counter. Prize winners will be announced from the Expo main stage on Sunday afternoon, May 23, starting at 3 pm. Winners do not have to be present to win.

Pete's Electric Bikes is located at 2232 Pearl Street, Boulder 80302. Founder Dean Franssen began in 2004 with a store in Calgary, Alberta, then teamed with Chuck Ankeny to expand to Boulder. In coming months, Franssen says, Pete's Electric Bikes plans to add up to 12 more stores to its growing chain.

Pete's Electric Bikes will have a large exhibit space at EarthWorks Expo to display an assortment of electric scooters, bikes and neighborhood electric vehicles.

Don't miss your chance to win one of our great prizes in the EarthWorks Expo prize drawing. See you at the Expo!

Expo to Include a Wide Variety of Programs for Kids

In addition to a Who's Who of green exhibitors and a full schedule of informative workshops, this year's EarthWorks Expo will feature our biggest-ever assortment of family-friendly programs for kids.

The EarthKIDS area just off the main exhibit hall will offer learning activities, games and fascinating displays of live birds and animals provided by The Wildlife Experience, Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, the Butterfly Pavilion, Denver Zoo and other organizations.

Kids, bring your parents to EarthWorks Expo so they can join you in meeting Rosy the giant tarantula from the Butterfly Pavilion. (Are you brave enough to hold Rosy in your hand?) Or meet a majestic hawk or owl from the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program; or some of the fascinating creatures from Denver Zoo. Or take part in one of many environmental learning activities presented by The Wildlife Experience. There's sure to be lots going on in the EarthKIDS area all weekend long!
