Earth Work: Green Careers Forum to Help Coloradoans Renew Career Options, Skills
DENVER– Aug. 10, 2009—Where are today’s green jobs? What are tomorrow’s green job prospects? EarthWorks Expo (www.earthworks2009.com), in partnership with the ReDirect Guide (www.redirectguide.com), will present Earth Work: Green Careers Forum as part of Denver’s third annual EarthWorks Expo taking place Aug. 22-23 at the Denver Merchandise Mart. The Forum is intended to address the current adverse economic climate with an educational, empowering exploration of Colorado’s burgeoning green economy and how individuals can move toward active participation.
Included with the $5 price of Expo admission, the Green Careers Forum will provide attendees with a clear vision of the emerging green job market in Colorado and offer practical guidance on entering the green economy, preparing for the changing marketplace, and connecting with leading green companies to find out what they look for in successful candidates. Business owners and employees can also learn ways to green their practices and engage conscientious consumers, creating more green jobs regardless of industry.
“We want to give the community a skill set and knowledge base to walk away with,” says Sarah Wells, Communications Maven at the ReDirect Guide. “Sustainable business principles can come with a steep learning curve, but connecting to existing networks and learning from successful local leaders can give candidates the jump start they need to be competitive.”
Forum activities will run simultaneously with the rest of the Expo, including a full track of workshops and speakers focusing on job creation, green job prospects in Colorado, government initiatives, and skills development. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in mock interviews focusing on knowledge of sustainable business, and have the opportunity to connect with green network leaders from across the state.
“We are delighted to include the Green Careers Forum in this year’s Expo,” says Expo Director Michael Lindemann. “The ReDirect Guide has done a great service in bringing together this timely and valuable program, which speaks to the interests and needs of so many Coloradoans in this time of rapid economic change.”
The ReDirect Guide is a new breed of media company – one that is dedicated solely to creating innovative and effective media that encourages green living and sustainable communities.
