EARTHWORKS EXPO 2010 CANCELED
Dear Friend,
With deep regret, we must announce that EarthWorks Expo 2010, scheduled for May 22-23 in Denver, has been canceled. The reason is simple. The recession has been very difficult for many green businesses that have previously participated in our event. Consequently, exhibitor registrations are down more than 40% from 2009; and sponsor support is down even more. Under these conditions, it is not possible for the Expo to go forward.
For all of us at EarthWorks Expo, this is a terribly sad development. Over the last four years, we have worked tirelessly to create a green-living event worthy of the people and green businesses of our region. We are proud of the Expos we offered in 2007, 2008 and 2009. We remain committed to advancing green values, knowledge and practical solutions in renewable energy, green building, green transportation, sustainable agriculture, resource conservation, environmental stewardship and Earth-friendly consumer behavior. We know that our work is far from complete. Indeed, the challenges associated with creating a truly sustainable society are more urgent today than ever before.
We are deeply grateful to every organization that sponsored our efforts; every green business that participated as an exhibitor; each one of our outstanding keynote speakers; our dozens of excellent workshop presenters; every organization that contributed to our children's programming; every one of our indispensable volunteers; and every single attendee who honored us with your presence.
We want to give special recognition and thanks to all those who were assisting us in creating EarthWorks Expo 2010, which we believed would be our best show ever.
Thanks, first, to our 2010 sponsors: KQMT 99.5 The Mountain, Paradigm Nouveau Enterprises, ReDirect Guide, Governor's Energy Office, KUNC 91.5 FM, Xcel Energy, Lynott & Associates Public Relations, Pete's Electric Bikes, Radiance Corporation, Westword, Natural Awakenings Magazine, Grainger, Boulderganic, Chelsea Green Publishing, Transition Colorado, Waste-Not Recycling. Complete contact information and web links can be seen HERE.
Thanks to over 70 exhibitors that had registered to take part in this year's Expo. These fine organizations represent a Who's Who of Colorado's green marketplace, and we hope you will give them your business. See the full list with contact information and links HERE.
Thanks to our two confirmed keynote speakers, John Michael Greer and Michael C. Ruppert. We hope to bring them to Colorado in the future.
Thanks to our full roster of outstanding workshop presenters, shown HERE.
Thanks to the fine people and organizations who contributed to our EarthKIDS area, shown HERE.
And thanks to the following individuals, without whom EarthWorks Expo would not have been possible:
Lisa Olivas, Assistant Director Cameron Marlin, Workshop Coordinator Jules Maxwell, Volunteer Coordinator Rob Denise, Webmaster Greg and Yvonne Lynott, Lynott & Associates Public Relations Gene Malowany, graphic design Deanna Estes, program guide and graphic design Anita Comer, Waste-Not Recycling, resource recovery program Sarah Wells & Michele Hart, ReDirect Guide, facilitators of our green careers workshop track Michael Brownlee, Transition Colorado, facilitator of our transition & reskilling workshop track Ken Williams, Denver Merchandise Mart, for invaluable help with our venue arrangements
Many other people are deserving of our gratitude, including some very special friends who prefer to remain anonymous. You know who you are; please know that we are grateful.
And if you're reading this, you too deserve our thanks for your interest in our efforts, and for attending EarthWorks Expo in the past. Our greatest hope is that this event has helped you to lead a greener, more sustainable life upon our beautiful Earth.
For now, farewell. We hope to see you again.
