Making Larger Strides, Leaving Smaller Footprints: How to Design and Build Energy-Efficient Buildings with Current Technologies
In this presentation, Brian Propp explains how to “conserve and convert” in five key areas to make buildings as energy-efficient as possible: 1. Building ORIENTATION; 2. Building DESIGN; 3. The thermal ENVELOPE; 4. SYSTEMS within; 5. Alternative ENERGY. Special Focus: The Envelope, Please! How does a home lose or gain heat? Learn the six mechanisms of heat transfer and how to achieve an excellent thermal envelope (floors, walls, roof, doors, and windows). Brian has delivered this inspiring and educational presentation many times in Colorado and neighboring states. At EarthWorks Expo 2008 in Denver, his presentation was the best attended of 35 workshops and among the highest rated by attendees.

About the Speaker: Brian Propp has traveled extensively throughout the world managing rebuilding efforts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, and the former Soviet Union. His passion to find better building techniques and to conserve energy, especially fossil fuels, led him to begin manufacturing ICS Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) in Loveland, Colorado. As a double-alum of the University of Colorado (CU) and former Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver (DU), he now enjoys speaking throughout the Rocky Mountain region about his five easy steps to “Conservation and Conversion”.
